Scholarships + Grants

The industry has several resources for scholarships and grants dedicated to individuals that are seeking to make automotive their career path. The following two grants are available from our partners, the New Car Dealers Association of BC and the Automotive Retailers Association.

CarCareerBC Education Grant

The automotive sector is a rapidly changing, highly technological industry offering lucrative careers close to home. The Foundation is playing a lead role in promoting these career opportunities for young people.In 2017, the New Car Dealers Foundation of BC awarded over $44,000 in education grants to students pursuing careers in the automotive industry. Grants range in value from $500 to $2,500 and are provided as tuition credit (grant funding is made to the post-secondary school with restricted use for tuition).The Foundation awards CarCareerBC education grants to eligible students in BC who wish to pursue post-secondary education or training leading to a career in the automotive industry.This may include but are not limited to: service or repair training, business degree, marketing diploma etc. CarCareerBC grants provide financial support towards the cost of tuition and books for recipients enrolled in applicable apprenticeship, training or education.Through its charitable efforts and support for young people pursuing careers in BC’s automotive sector, the New Car Dealers Foundation of BC is continuing to bring awareness to one of the largest and fastest growing employers in BC.

Automotive Retailers Foundation Inc Bursaries

The Automotive Retailers Foundation Inc. (ARFI) is the culmination of the Automotive Retailers Association (ARA) and its members’ desire to support individuals in their pursuit of automotive careers in British Columbia. The mission of the Automotive Retailers Foundation Inc. is to engage in the receipt of donations and to conduct charitable activities in Canada for the purpose of advancing education and relieving poverty in Canada, specifically with respect to the automotive industry sector. Among its other activities, the Automotive Retailers Foundation Inc. provides for bursaries and scholarships to aid students and prospective students in automotive related skills training.

The bursaries were developed to aid low-income individuals ($40K or less combined family income) enrolled in a post-secondary automotive industry related training program. Selected candidates receive a $1,000 (Canadian) bursary. While all students enrolled in an automotive related program are encouraged to apply, priority in awarding bursaries is given to those who demonstrate the greatest financial need.
